Nursery Rhymes

If you are like me, you know bits and pieces of nursery rhymes.  When it comes time to teach them to your little one, you don't want to be filling in the blanks with "something... something..." or worse - making up your own words!  Here are some popular nursery rhymes that you may want to know in their entirety.  Every child needs a little mother goose from time to time...

Here We Go ëRound the Mulberry Bush

Here we go ëround the mulberry bush,

The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush,

Here we go ëround the mulberry bush,

On a cold and frosty morning.

This is the way we wash our hands,

Wash our hands, wash our hands,

This is the way we wash our hands,

On a cold and frosty morning.

This is the way we brush our hair,

Brush our hair, brush our hair,

This is the way we brush our hair,

On a cold and frosty morning.

This is the way we go to school,

Go to school, go to school,

This is the way we go to school,

On a cold and frosty morning.

Hey Diddle Diddle

Hey diddle diddle,

The cat and the fiddle,

The cow jumped over the moon.

The little dog laughed

To see such sport,

And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Hickory, Dickory, Dock

Hickory, dickory, dock.

The mouse ran up the clock.

The clock struck one,

The mouse ran down,

Hickory, dickory, dock.

Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the kingís horses and all the kingís men

Couldnít put Humpty together again.

Hush, Little Baby

Hush, little baby, donít say a word.

Papaís gonna buy you a mocking bird.

And if that mocking bird donít sing,

Papaís gonna buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring turns to brass,

Papaís gonna buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass gets broke,

Papaís gonna buy you a billy goat.

And if that billy goat donít pull,

Papaís gonna buy you a cart and mule.

And if that cart and mule turn over,

Papaís gonna buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that dog named Rover wonít bark,

Papaís gonna buy you a horse and cart.

And if that horse and cart fall down,

Youíll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

The itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the water spout.

Down came the rain,

And washed the spider out.

Out came the sun,

And dried up all the rain.

So the itsy bitsy spider

Climbed up the spout again.

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill went up the hill,

To fetch a pail of water.

Jack fell down, and broke his crown,

And Jill came tumbling after.

Then up Jack got, and home did trot,

As fast as he could caper.

He went to bed, to mend his head,

With vinegar and brown paper.

Little Bo Peep

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep,

And canít tell where to find them.

Leave them alone, and theyíll come home,

Waving their tails behind them.

Little Boy Blue

Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn,

The sheepís in the meadow, the cowís in the corn.

Where is the boy that looks after the sheep?

Heís under a haystack, fast asleep.

Little Jack Horner

Little Jack Horner

Sat in the corner,

Eating his Christmas pie.

He put in his thumb,

And pulled out a plum,

And said, ìWhat a good boy am I!î

Little Miss Muffet

Little Miss Muffet

Sat on a tuffet,

Eating her curds and whey.

Along came a spider,

Who sat down beside her

And frightened Miss Muffet away.

Mary Had a Little Lamb

Mary had a little lamb.

Its fleece was white as snow;

And everywhere that Mary went

The lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school one day,

Which was against the rules;

It made the children laugh and play

To see a lamb at school.

Pat-a-Cake

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, bakerís man,

Bake me a cake as fast as you can.

Roll it, and prick it, and mark it with a ìBî

And put it in the oven for baby and me!

Ring a-Round the Roses

Ring a-round the roses,

A pocket full of posies.

Ashes!  Ashes!

We all fall down!

Rock-a-Bye, Baby

Rock-a-bye, baby, on the tree top.

When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.

When the bow breaks, the cradle will fall.

And down will come baby, cradle and all.

Row, Row, Row your Boat

Row, row, row your boat

Gently down the stream.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,

Life is but a dream.
