Choosing a Baby Bib Baby Bibs are fun to shop for because they are cute, practical, and you get to buy a bunch! Each type has its own advantages:
Wipe-off Bibs
Wipe-off bibs are super easy to use. A few drops can be cleaned off easily without washing the entire bib. When the bib does need to be washed, it dries quickly and is ready for another use.
Waterproof
Waterproof bibs keep your baby's mess from soaking through onto her clothes. Some waterproof bibs, such as the wipe-off style, have a waterproof layer on the top. Others have a waterproof layer on the inside. The advantage of having the waterproof layer inside the bib is that the baby is only touching the soft cotton exterior.
Washable
Some bibs are all cotton with no waterproof layer. These often contain some batting or terrycloth to absorb drips. These bibs are often soft and comfy.
Personalized Personalized Bibs make wonderful baby shower and new baby gifts. Custom bibs often have baby's name or monogram embroidered on the front. Alternatively, some bibs are appliqued with the baby's initial. Another new style is birthday bibs which have the baby or toddler's new age on the front. These are great for photos!
Snap Closure Bibs that close with snaps are very easy to use. They go on quickly, but some babies and toddlers can pull them off. They are also not as adjustable as some other bibs.
Tie
Bibs that tie in the back are very adjustable for the size of your baby's neck. They do take a little longer to put on, but can not be easily pulled off.
Velcro
Bibs that close with velcro are easy to use and often adjustable. These are usually the easiest for toddlers to put on and take off. |
